Individual Academic Support

Academic Tutoring

We offer tailored subject instruction in the following areas. All sessions also emphasize study skills and test-taking skills.

Mathematics

Elementary school through advanced calculus. For younger students, we focus on building the foundational skills needed for long-term success in math. For older and more advanced students, we provide exam preparation as well as AP/IB test prep. We offer both remedial support for students who struggle with math and enrichment for students who are especially strong in it.

Science

Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. We help students see the big picture — why science matters and how its ideas connect — while also building the problem-solving skills they need for exams. We specialize in working with students who are new to high school science, as well as those taking advanced AP/IB courses.

Reading & Writing

Elementary literacy through advanced writing support. For younger students, we offer reading intervention for students with dyslexia, ADHD, and other forms of neurodivergence. In the middle years (grades 5–8), we help students build grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills while also developing the habit of reading regularly. For advanced students, we offer AP/IB English preparation and writing support at a college-ready level.

Executive Function Coaching

Our executive function coaching is highly tailored to the individual student's needs and neurodivergent profile. The skills we help students develop are important not only for success in high school, but also for the increasing independence and complexity of college-level work. In our sessions, we focus especially on the following areas:

Goal Setting and Prioritizing

We help students determine which tasks should take priority and break larger goals into smaller, more manageable steps for the week and for each day. We also help them assess how long tasks are likely to take and plan their time more realistically. In each session, the tutor and student create a schedule together for the week ahead and make sure the student has a reliable system for daily reminders.

Organization

We help students keep both physical and digital materials organized. We also make sure they are aware of assignment deadlines, upcoming tests, and the broader structure of their academic responsibilities.

Communication and Self-Advocacy

We help students become more effective communicators with their teachers so they can take fuller advantage of opportunities for support and academic improvement. We also guide them in seeking accommodations and other school-based supports that may help them work more successfully.

Study Skills and Test-Taking Strategies

We help students learn how to study in ways that suit their learning style and cognitive profile. We also teach practical test-taking strategies such as time management, error analysis, and educated guessing on multiple-choice exams.

Early Literacy & Dyslexia Support

We provide structured, individualized reading instruction for early readers and students with dyslexia or related language-based learning differences. This work is led by Kira Parker, our dedicated dyslexia instructor, who is Orton-Gillingham certified — a research-backed, multisensory approach to literacy instruction. Our focus is on building real reading skills — decoding, fluency, and comprehension — at a pace that reduces overwhelm and builds confidence over time. Learn more about our dyslexia tutoring →

Foundational Reading Skills

Support in phonological awareness, decoding, word recognition, spelling, and early reading development for students who need more explicit, carefully paced instruction.

Reading Fluency & Comprehension

We help students strengthen accuracy, fluency, and understanding so reading becomes more manageable and more confident over time.
